SAAT stands for Soliman Auricular Allergy Technique. It uses tiny needles in the concha of the ear to change the way the immune system responds to allergens. There are no shots or drugs involved to change the allergic responses.

Anything and everything you're allergic to! Environmental, Food, Chemicals, etc.

Anything you are intolerant to or lacking enzymes to. For example, you can be allergic to dairy, which we can fix. You can also be intolerant to it because in some people causes inflammation; we can't fix this.. And, you can be deficient in the enzyme needed to digest dairy; we can sometimes fix this if the deficiency is due to an allergen. If you're not sure which is your problem, we can test for it.

"Regular" acupuncture is a full body modality that might use all different size needles anywhere on the body. It works to move your qi and blood to achieve balance within the body. SAAT uses the ear as a microsystem to interrupt the immune system's response to an allergen.

Usually, it does not hurt. For the first few days, you probably won't want to sleep on the ear with the needles. And, if you rub your head with your towel with the needles in, it'll hurt. But, otherwise, it's like a pinch during the needling, and then the sensation goes away.

Usually, 3 weeks. There are some situations where they stay in for four weeks. They are flat to your ear and covered with bandaids so you can go about your usual activities without an issue.

We feel your radial pulse. It's completely non-invasive. You get to lay down and rest while we feel your pulse. You do need to be able to lift your left arm up over your head in order for Charlotte to have access to your pulse.

By using the pulse to test for allergens (VAS testing), we've discovered many, many allergens that have not been detected by prick, patch, or blood allergy testing.

Yes! For many common allergies, Dr. Soliman has made remedies that we sell if you test as benefitting from them. We keep most of these in stock. These are similar to homeopathic remedies that you place under your tongue three times a day. Usually, the allergies resolve after 4-8 weeks when taking the remedy. If you'd rather not take anything, then Renee can work with you via Body Code to try to address the allergen.

Both Charlotte and Renee were trained in-person by Dr. Soliman. They were also patients of Dr. Soliman for many, many years and received the treatment directly from him.

Dr. Soliman now offers a certification test. His office started doing this years after we had already been practicing SAAT. So, no we are not certified because we've been doing this longer than the certification has been offered!

If you have a metal or adhesive allergy, you have to use Dr. Soliman's sprays to fix these allergens before you can receive SAAT. We don't treat pregnant women in the First Trimester with SAAT.

No. Please don't stop any medications. We test using your pulse and the allergy meds won't impact our testing.

Usually, we won't put in more than 5-7 needles at a time. So, that's usually 5-7 allergens per visit.

In general, allergy meds try to stop the histamine reaction that is started by the attack on the allergen. SAAT works by stopping the attack on the allergen.

Yes. There are a few cases where an infection or vaccination can cause an allergic reaction to occur, but that's rare. Otherwise, once you've been treated for the allergen, you won't need to be treated for it again.

Each person is unique. We treat multiple allergens at a time to reduce the number of follow-up visits you need. Most people are allergic to more than one thing. We don't know how many sessions you might need to address all your allergens.

We try to schedule you 4-5 weeks after your appointment for a follow-up, but they can be spread out longer if needed.

When you realize that your symptoms have decreased, or you're taking less allergy medication, or you had an accidental exposure with no reaction.

If your body considers the item "toxic," then SAAT will not work. If your reaction is due to a subconscious issue, then SAAT isn't the right modality.

Water and glue don't mix. Avoid the water with your needles. Please shower though! Just don't pour water into your ear.

Absolutely! TSA has never flagged any of our patients for ear needles.

Definitely! We look to the parents to know what their kid can handle. We have done SAAT on children as young as 4. But, some kids can't handle sensations or are super busy/active or play with their ears all the time. For those kids, they will need to be older for SAAT. However, kids of all ages, including babies, can take Dr. Soliman's allergy remedies safely. In fact, these remedies came into existence to help a baby who couldn't tolerate any foods.

If you are anaphylactic, NO! SAAT is an insurance policy for you for when you have an accidental exposure. If you are not anaphylactic, then you can try to foods after SAAT treatment. Almost everyone is able to eat the foods again. Note, though, that unhealthy foods are always going to be unhealthy ;) If you choose to reintroduce the foods, we will tell you how to reintroduce them.

Usually, no. Bloodwork is a piece of information but does not tell the whole story with allergies.

If possible, yes! However, if you're being treated for environmental allergies, it's really hard to avoid the allergens. The needles will work but you might notice some allergy symptoms at the beginning of wearing the needles if you have exposure to the allergen.

Absolutely! While these tests aren't conclusive, they are a good place to start. If you don't have allergy tests, that's okay. We don't need them for our testing.

You do! We will give you detailed instructions at the end of your appointment about how to do this. If you can't do it, then you can make a follow-up appt for us to do it. Charlotte will go over this with you at your appointment.

We do not. As patients, we don't like surprise bills at the end of the appointment so we don't charge per needle. We also don't want you to be making decisions about whether or not to be treated for a substance based on the cost of a needle so all needling is included in the cost of your appointment. However, if you need a remedy, that is an extra cost.

For most people, SAAT is only needles. If you need support for MCAS/metal allergy/adhesive allergy, there are remedies for those. If you can't handle needles, then we do have many of Dr. Soliman's allergy remedies that you would take under the tongue.

Don't worry about it. Try not to touch the needles while they in, but if they do move, we will re-treat the time at your follow-up appt. We check all allergens treated at your follow-up appt.

Charlotte prides herself on being a "super-gluer" so it's very rare for needles to fall out. However, if your needle does fall-out, shoot us an email to let us know when your appointment was and when the needle fell out. From there, we'll decide what the best next step is for you.

With the help of Dr. Soliman's remedies designed for MCAS, your MCAS symptoms can reduce. We test for MCAS at all SAAT and Auricular Medicine appointments. If you are positive for it, we highly recommend you take the remedies. There is an extra charge for these.

Not usually. MCAS and allergies are related, but they are different. Treating MCAS will reduce your overall inflammation. You need to treat the actual allergen to deal with it.

Come with a list of items you want us to test. If you have environmental allergens, you can swipe a bedside table or mantle or pet with a tissue before you appointment. Put that tissue in a baggie and label it. We can test that baggie. Also, do NOT clean your ear before your appointment. We need the biofilm on the ear to find the points!

Yes! Dr. Soliman has two sprays that address metal and adhesive allergies. You will have to take these before we can do a SAAT treatment. They come at an additional cost. You will take these for 8 weeks before you can have SAAT.

Helmets may jostle the needles; it depends on how your helmet fits. Wrestling is fine AS LONG AS no one is grabbing your ears. If they are grabbing your ears, try ear guards or stay off the mat during treatment. If you sweat a lot in your ear, the remedies will be a better option for you. Farmers, construction workers, and athletes, we're looking at you ;)
